Yō Nashi was set to open our doors in April 2020, but like so many others, our plans were derailed by the onset of COVID-19. Instead, we officially welcomed guests on June 20, 2020.
In the early days, our team was small but mighty: just owner Kyle Payer crafting drinks and one chef preparing food. Despite the challenges, we soon began to grow.
Initially, we could seat only about 10 people, mainly through reservations to comply with CDC guidelines.
Our menu started with an omakase-only offering, and although this wasn't easy, it laid the foundation for what Yō Nashi would become. Over time, we've expanded to include a unique format featuring sushi, small plates, entrees, and desserts. Some cocktails, like the Virga and the Jack Pear, have become beloved staples since day one.
The Jack Pear holds special meaning for us, as it's named after Kyle’s son, Jack. "Nashi" refers to pears native to Japan."Wa-nashi" is often used to describe Japanese pears, which thrive in warmer climates. “Yō” refers to being from the West. “Yō Nashi” refers to western pears. This name symbolizes Kyle’s family and the merging of cultures.
Our goal has always been to bring you a unique experience through the art of Japanese flavors and techniques. We are honored to share our journey with you and look forward to many more memories together.
